The HazMat Field Driver/Technician position involves providing essential environmental support through safe transportation and handling of hazardous and non-hazardous materials. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles, including tractor trailers, roll-offs, tankers, van trailers, and other specialized equipment.
  2. Transport bulk and containerized hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials to designated locations.
  3. Perform less-than-load (LTL) pickups and support customer service requirements.
  4. Maintain accurate driver documentation, including logbooks, trip reports, permits, and waste manifests.
  5. Follow Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations related to hazardous waste collection, packaging, transportation, labeling, and load securement.
  6. Ensure proper vehicle operation while complying with applicable safety laws and company procedures.
  7. Complete required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  8. Use assigned technology systems, mobile applications, and software tools to support daily operations.
  9. Communicate professionally with customers to ensure service quality and satisfaction.
  10. Maintain clean and organized work areas, vehicles, and facilities.
  11. Participate in safety programs, training sessions, and compliance initiatives.
  12. Support field service projects, including technician responsibilities for specialized waste handling activities when needed.

Requirements for this role include:

  • A valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with hazardous materials and tanker endorsements or the ability to obtain these within 90 days of hire.
  • A driving record meeting established safety and compliance standards.
  • Completion of 40-hour HAZWOPER training upon hire.
  • The ability to lift heavy materials and perform physical tasks associated with loading and unloading activities.
  • A strong understanding of DOT regulations, hazardous materials transportation requirements, and safety procedures.
  • The ability to accurately complete documentation and follow detailed operating instructions.
  • A strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • The ability to work independently while maintaining communication with customers and operational teams.
  • Flexibility to support variable schedules, including occasional overnight shifts based on business requirements.
