Hazardous Material Coordinator

Position Responsibilities

  • Determining waste characterization and arranging disposal/recycling of various waste streams
  • Recordkeeping of hazardous and other regulated waster
  • Preparing shipping documents per DOT and EPA requirements
  • Tracking weights of recyclable materials
  • Participating with site field operations as needed for obsolete chemicals or abandoned chemicals
  • Completing spill reports and other technical writings regarding regulatory requirements
  • Interaction with other departments and vendors for the documentation of customers’ waste management

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in natural science, environmental science or engineering
  • 1+ years’ experience in environmental science
  • Good driving record
  • Reliable transportation
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (written/oral) skills
  • Excellent multi-tasking, organizational, and teamwork skills
  • Proactive approach to all tasks

Work Requirements

  • Work primarily in an office
  • Must be physically and mentally able to maintain work in an office setting
  • May also be required to work around chemicals and other toxic substances
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, and lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
