ESH Hazardous Waste/Material Coordinator

Reports to: ESH Manager, Project Manager • FLSA Status: Non-Exempt • Full Time

About the Role

Responsible for all aspects of Hazardous Waste/Material (HW/HM) management, handling, and storage requirements for International Marine and Industrial Applicators, LLC (IMIA) during the accomplishment of work.

Responsibilities

• Manage and process HW/HM to ensure compliance with customer, company, State, Federal, and environmental policies and regulations.
• Conduct and document Daily & Weekly Inspections of HW/HM Storage Areas.
• Perform functions of the job relying on instructions and pre-established guidelines.
• Plan and accomplish goals using experience and judgment, exercising independent judgment and attention to detail.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures regarding HW/HM and environmental policies and regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret documents relevant to customer, company, local, state, and federal safety & environmental regulations (e.g., Waste Information Sheets, Safety Data Sheets, HW/HM rules and regulations, procedures).
• Ability to work cooperatively and productively with other employees and facility owner/customer personnel.
• Ability to carry out instructions furnished in oral, written, or diagram form.
• General working knowledge of federal and state/local regulations within the marine industry.
• Formal or informal on-the-job training and 2 years of experience in the Marine Coating Industry or Maritime HW/HM Industry.
• High School diploma or equivalent.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to walk; frequently required to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and occasionally sit.
• Required to reach with hands and arms, use hands to feel, grip, or handle.
• Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; more infrequently required to lift heavier weights.
• Required use of respirators during HW/HM processing when necessary.
• Most work performed onboard a ship, in a dry dock, or shipyard under fast-paced conditions.
• Frequently requires overtime.
• Consistent exposure to outdoor elements, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, and dusty conditions.

Pay

$25.00–$35.00 per hour, depending on experience.
