About the role
The Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of an assigned department, ensuring departmental goals are met in product quality, GMP/SSOP and HACCP standards, team member safety, order fill, productivity, staffing, and discipline in accordance with the team member handbook.
Responsibilities
- Communicate daily with superintendents and operations managers to align priorities and production needs, then relay them effectively to staff.
- Make decisions and allocate staff to meet department goals for quality, safety, and productivity.
- Coordinate with other department supervisors and managers to optimize staffing and meet priorities.
- Train and develop team members for key positions and backups.
- Select team members, administer discipline, and enforce policies within the department.
- Control overtime, waste, yields, and order fill to meet measured department goals.
- Communicate daily priorities, schedules, and performance results versus goals to hourly staff.
- Assign and utilize hourly team members to fulfill department obligations to safety teams and task forces.
- Proactively address safety or quality concerns to ensure safe, high-quality products.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Responsible for all hourly team members in the assigned department.
Requirements
- Demonstrated basic knowledge of animal welfare and handling, and specific knowledge of department processes.
- Proven ability to effectively select, train, and manage staff to meet department goals.
- Ability to administer discipline and coaching according to company policies.
- Strong decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in reading and utilizing data from accounting and production reports.
Qualifications
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; college preferred but not required.
- Experience in a leadership role or demonstrated ability to function as an effective leader.
