Hardware Lead
About the role
BAE Systems is seeking a technical leader to assist in leading advanced program pursuits in a Deputy Hardware Lead role. You will be part of the Countermeasure & Electromagnetic Attack Solutions team, which provides next-generation threat detection and countermeasure solutions that enhance mission survivability. The selected candidate will apply emerging leadership skills in program execution to support the “Design it Right” initiative for complex defense products and technologies. This role includes acquiring product knowledge and advancing management skills while performing responsibilities in a Hybrid work format.
Responsibilities
- Assist in leading multi-discipline, state-of-the-art hardware teams of 20+ people through hardware engineering design and development.
- Employ expertise, decision skills, and independent judgment in technical areas.
- Lead Design Review activities to achieve program success.
- Communicate essential information and coordinate with engineering disciplines, Procurement, Operations, and Program Management.
- Assist in developing program schedules, earned value criteria, and productivity metrics for efficient performance.
- Ensure the established Hardware Development Process is implemented successfully.
- Support program capture and proposal teams with hardware baselines, including development and cost/scheduling estimating.
- Work with Discipline Section Leads to determine program staffing needs and ensure the “right person/right job” approach.
Requirements
- BSEE or BSME with 4+ years of experience leading engineering teams.
- Solid technical leadership skills for multi-disciplinary engineering teams engaged in the design and development of state-of-the-art electro-mechanical products.
- Experience leading teams of disciplines including Mechanical (ME), Electrical (EE), Firmware (EE), and Design Drafting (DD).
- Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring project schedules, budgets, and productivity metrics to ensure efficient team performance.
- Experience implementing an established Hardware Engineering design process to achieve product quality and consistency.
- Sound interpersonal communication skills for interfacing with company personnel, customers, and suppliers.
- Ability to develop, implement, and lead others to closure on design solutions within budget and schedule.
- Eligible to obtain a DOD Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification for Earned Value Management System (EVMS) project management techniques.
- Experience with designing to cost (DTUPC) constraints.
- Design for manufacturability experience.
- Experience developing compact embedded systems for harsh environments.
- Familiarity with AS9145 compliant processes.
- Experience with Electronic Warfare systems or radar systems.
- Active Secret Clearance.
Pay
Full-Time Salary Range: $118,095 – $200,762. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
