Roles & Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems for validation of embedded controllers in power electronics applications.
- Develop plant models using MATLAB/Simulink to simulate inverter and converter topologies.
- Integrate simulation models with real-time platforms such as Opal-RT, dSPACE, and Speedgoat.
- Configure and maintain hardware interfaces, including signal conditioning, I/O mapping, and communication interfaces.
- Design and execute HIL-based test plans to validate inverter and converter controller software against functional and performance requirements.
- Analyze test results, troubleshoot simulation and embedded software issues, and support debugging of control algorithms.
- Collaborate with controls, embedded software, and system engineering teams to ensure HIL environments meet project requirements.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to real-time execution, simulation fidelity, and hardware integration.
- Maintain HIL system documentation, configurations, test procedures, and ensure traceability between software requirements and test coverage.
- Support continuous improvement of HIL methodologies, tools, and validation processes.
Required Technical/Functional Skills
- 3–5 years of experience in Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) system design, development, maintenance, and real-time simulation.
- Strong proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink for model-based design and plant model development.
- Hands-on experience with Opal-RT or equivalent real-time simulation platforms such as dSPACE or Speedgoat.
- Strong understanding of inverter and converter control systems, including IGBT, SCR, and SiC technologies.
- Experience in testing and validating embedded software for power electronics applications.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as CAN, SPI, UART, and Ethernet.
- Knowledge of HIL architecture, signal conditioning, I/O mapping, and hardware interfacing.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Simulink Real-Time or RT-LAB environments.
- Knowledge of sensor and actuator emulation techniques.
- Domain experience in Locomotive Drives, Electrical Controls, Industrial Drives, Automotive, or Renewable Energy.
- Familiarity with software testing frameworks and version control systems.
