Hardware Field Test Engineer - Orlando, FL (Hybrid)
About the role
We are seeking a Field Test Engineer to perform data analysis for IoT hardware during field testing or deployment activities. This role is ideal for someone with insight and data analysis experience in product testing or validation, or a desire to learn these functions. The position is crucial for delivering valuable analysis and insights to drive key IoT hardware business decisions.
Responsibilities
- Develop, execute, analyze, and report on assigned test/validation activities.
- Serve as the team’s data analysis expert, executing or supporting complex data analysis accurately and generating insights according to test/validation plan deliverables.
- Improve the team’s overall data analysis tool usage and experience.
- Document and update results and insights in Jira/Confluence or similar systems.
- Provide tables, graphs, or other documents to report results and insights to key stakeholders and leadership.
- Analyze extensive volumes of both structured and unstructured data to deliver accurate, meaningful, and insightful recommendations.
- Collaborate effectively with diverse regional and global team members operating remotely.
- Manage multiple concurrent activities efficiently.
- Apply critical thinking and analytical skills to varying testing and validation scenarios, often relying on Ad Hoc data.
- Acquire a foundational understanding of IoT hardware functions to enhance insightful analysis.
- Effectively communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders to facilitate informed decision-making.
Requirements
- Test/validation plan development, execution, analysis, and report-out experience, or willingness to gain this experience.
- Self-starter with an inquisitive mindset and an interest in understanding the ‘why’ behind IoT device operations.
- Strong SQL experience to conduct queries and extract data for testing/validation analysis.
- Advanced Excel skills for data analysis.
- Ability to analyze various sizes of data sets to discover trends, patterns, and insights for IoT hardware performance validation.
- Create comprehensive data visualization documents that accurately provide metrics or insights for data-driven decisions.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of Data Analytics experience in turning data into insights and actionable recommendations.
- 2+ years of experience communicating (verbal and written) insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- 1+ year of data analysis on IoT hardware, equipment, or other products where operational performance data was collected, analyzed, and visualized.
Skills
- Excellent teamwork skills, capable of working effectively in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.
- Appetite to explore and gain knowledge of IoT hardware.
- Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and loading; experience with Python or R is a plus.
- Ability to analyze complex data sets to generate metrics and insights.
- Create accurate and effective data visualization reports.
Desirable Skills
- Experience training people in using data analysis tools for basic to intermediate levels.
- Experience introducing data automation to repetitive data analysis tasks.
- Experience with data analytic tools like Power BI, Tableau, Python, R, Java, or Apache for data extraction, transformation, analysis, and visualization.
- Experience using statistical tools in test/validation plan development and analysis (e.g., variance analysis, sample size determination, hypothesis testing) or willingness to learn.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $86,000 to $118,000 per year. Salary ranges consider factors such as skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, geographic differentials, and other business needs. Actual amounts offered may vary. Other forms of compensation, such as monetary incentives or business benefits, may also be included beyond medical and retirement benefits.
