About the role
This position is for a Hardware Engineering Asc. Mgr. who will lead a team of PCB designers and Component Engineers. The team defines board layout, drafting, BOM development, part selection, part approval, obsolescence, and related activities in the design and development of products. You will provide technical, programmatic, and leadership support, including project leadership and planning, talent management, resource planning, functional overhead planning, performance management, and tool support.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams—engineering, manufacturing, and program management—to ensure successful project execution. Responsibilities include proposal estimating support, developing and managing project schedules, budgets, resource allocation plans, identifying and mitigating risks, and implementing process improvements to drive efficiency and affordability. The team supports projects covering customer contracts and new technology advancements through IRAD.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of PCB designers and Component Engineers in board layout, drafting, BOM development, part selection, part approval, and obsolescence management.
- Provide technical, programmatic, and leadership support, including project planning, talent management, resource planning, and performance management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, manufacturing, program management) to ensure project success.
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
- Identify and mitigate risks while implementing process improvements for efficiency and affordability.
- Support proposal estimating and new technology advancements through IRAD.
- Coordinate subordinate employee recruitment, selection, training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions.
- Oversee the development of designs for component installation into chassis, racks, cabinets, workstations, customer facilities, and shelters.
- Plan, direct, review, and coordinate project documentation to meet customer contract and company requirements.
- Ensure proper preparation of specifications, vendor evaluation, and analysis of test reports.
- Manage the research, design, development, and testing of COTS or custom computing hardware and electrical components.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field plus 7+ years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated leadership skills aligning with Lockheed Martin’s Full Spectrum Leadership Imperatives.
- Experience leading technical teams (e.g., Technical Lead, Project Manager, System Lead, or Product Lead).
- Proficiency in Electrical Engineering principles or a related field (Components, Computer, Hardware, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering).
- Working knowledge of earned value, schedule, cost, and risk management techniques.
- Understanding of hardware engineering processes and the product life cycle.
- Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this role.
Desired Skills
- Prior management experience or leadership of large functional projects/change initiatives.
- Experience in Component Engineering (part selection, obsolescence management, GIDEPs, part libraries).
- Experience with Printed Circuit Board Design and industry standards.
- Familiarity with GD&T and ASME drafting standards.
- Experience with Model-Based Electrical CAD tools (Xpedition, Zuken CR, Cadence, Altium).
- Experience with Windchill and/or EPDM product data management tools.
- Knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and practices (Cameo preferred).
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate at programmatic and technical levels.
- Demonstrated ability to lead change and implement process improvements for efficiency and affordability.
- Proposal preparation and negotiation experience.

For Washington state applicants only: Non-represented full-time employees accrue at least 10 hours of Paid Time Off (PTO) per month for incidental absences and receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full-time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month, up to 52 hours of sick leave annually, and at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
Pay
Full-Time Salary Range: $118,000 – $219,100. The salary offered considers factors such as scope and responsibilities, candidate experience, education/training, key skills, and market/location/business considerations.
