Position Summary

The Restaurant General Manager (RGM) oversees daily operations of a Hardee’s restaurant, aligning with the brand's vision, mission, and promise. They lead by example, embodying CKE’s Core Values, and ensure compliance with company standards in all areas.

Essential Functions

  • Demonstrates CKE’s Core Values while building high-performing employees through selection, training, retention, and recognition using appropriate tools and processes.
  • Identifies and develops a talent pipeline through succession planning.
  • Executes the company’s performance management process to ensure employees are successful and accountable.
  • Reinforces and follows the “Open Door” Policy with all employees.
  • Actively supervises the restaurant by monitoring and training staff on all shifts, including customer service, food preparation, cleaning, and stocking.
  • Moves between locations to support operations, attend meetings, and transport product and supplies.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources to resolve employee relations and comply with legal requirements.
  • Works the assigned schedule to oversee all shifts, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, late night, and weekends.
  • Promotes a customer-focused culture by exemplifying excellent service and training staff to meet or exceed service standards.
  • Coaches, drives excellence, and holds the team accountable for operational procedures using company systems.
  • Ensures food safety standards are met through direct observation and follow-up on audits.
  • Manages restaurant-level plans and marketing initiatives, partnering with the District Manager to execute Local Store Marketing plans.
  • Analyzes sales, labor, inventory, and controllables regularly and implements corrective actions to meet or exceed margin and sales growth targets.
  • Conducts fiscal period business reviews with the restaurant management team to enhance their ability to address performance gaps.
  • Shares best practices with the team and across the district.
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of internal and external contacts.
  • Takes initiative to supervise and perform other duties to keep the restaurant clean, safe, and operating efficiently.

Position Qualifications/Core Competencies

  • High School Diploma/GED required; associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in restaurant operation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and proof of insurance.
  • Effective communication skills, including interacting with all team members and encouraging open and honest communication.
  • Customer-focused, creating a culture that prioritizes service and exceeds customer expectations.
  • Develops talent by creating an environment for growth and engagement, keeping the team motivated and rewarded.
  • Excellence in execution, striving to be “Best in Class” in operations, analyzing costs to ensure profitability, and maintaining standards.
  • Accountability for continuous improvement, holding team members and themselves responsible for meeting performance standards using company performance management tools.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

A fast-paced environment involving kitchen equipment in confined spaces. Requires constant movement, standing/walking, bending, stooping, reaching overhead, working in a warm environment near grills, ovens, and vats, lifting up to 50 lbs. on occasion, and exposure to various cleaning products.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Requires constant movement in and around all areas of the restaurant.
  • Ability to stand/walk constantly and for extended periods.
  • Ability to reach overhead, bend, and stoop frequently and repetitively.
  • Ability to work in a warm environment near grills, ovens, and vats.
  • Able to lift 20 lbs. or more repetitively and up to 50 lbs. on occasion.
  • Work with various cleaning products.
