Handyman / Technician

About the role

Ameritech Facility Services is seeking a full-time and experienced jack-of-all-trades technician/handyman willing to travel and assist clients with building repairs. Most locations are retail and restaurant customers who need help solving construction related issues; troubleshoot, diagnose and repair. Ability to build relationships is very important.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair construction-related issues at retail and restaurant customer locations
• Handle minor plumbing connections (sink supply and drain lines)
• Handle minor electrical connections (disconnect and reconnect equipment)
• Perform roofing repairs, concrete repairs, stucco repairs, fencing, asphalt repairs, carpet repairs, and tile repairs
• Use basic tools and install or assemble by following instructions
• Manage time and prioritize; follow special instructions and schedules
• Maintain a clean and professional appearance
• Scan, email photos, and utilize apps from cell phone
• Heavy lifting, standing, bending, and reaching

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in carpentry with a basic understanding of electrical, flooring, and plumbing
• Commercial construction experience (5+ years), preferably restaurant
• Ability to travel regionally (50-75%)
• Clean driving record and personal transportation
• MUST HAVE A TRUCK
• Tools (drills, saws, hammers, ladders, cords, shop vac, caulking gun, etc.) — specialty tools will be rented (concrete saw, jackhammer, etc.)
• Cell phone
• Good communications skills
• Basic computer skills
• Willingness to learn other skills
• Must be able to pass a background check

Schedule

• Most work will be daytime fixing commercial buildings
• Some nights and weekends may be required
• Travel for work out of state may be necessary

Pay

• Helper: earn up to $60,000 per year (pay potential based on projects completed)
• Technician: earn up to $80,000 per year (pay potential based on projects completed)
