Handyman Helper
About the role
Mr. Handyman is hiring a Handyman Helper / Apprentice to assist our experienced technicians on larger projects while learning the skills needed to become a full-service handyman technician. This is more than a helper position. Our goal is to train and develop the right person so they can eventually run their own service calls, complete home repair projects independently, and grow their income and career with our company.
Responsibilities
As a Handyman Helper / Apprentice, you will:
- Assist experienced technicians with larger home repair, remodeling, and maintenance projects
- Help load, unload, organize, and maintain tools and materials
- Prepare job sites and protect customers’ homes before work begins
- Complete demolition, cleanup, material handling, and project-support tasks
- Perform smaller repairs and maintenance tasks independently as your skills develop
- Learn proper repair and installation methods from experienced technicians
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with customers
- Keep work areas, tools, and company vehicles clean and organized
- Follow company safety procedures and quality standards
- Take on greater responsibility as your knowledge and abilities improve
Types of Work You May Learn
Projects may include:
- Drywall repair and installation
- Interior and exterior painting
- Door and window repairs
- Trim and finish carpentry
- Deck and fence repairs
- Flooring installation and repairs
- Tile and bathroom repairs
- Cabinet and hardware installation
- Siding, soffit, and fascia repairs
- General home maintenance and punch-list projects
- Light commercial maintenance and repair work
Requirements
The ideal candidate is:

Previous construction, maintenance, remodeling, painting, carpentry, or handyman experience is helpful, but we are willing to train the right person with a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn. Requirements also include a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record, reliable transportation to and from work, ability to pass a background check, ability to lift approximately 50 pounds, and ability to work from ladders and in different weather conditions.
Qualifications
Basic knowledge of hand and power tools is preferred, and a professional appearance and positive attitude are required.

Pay
$18–$22 per hour, depending on experience and skill level, with opportunities for career growth and advancement into a full technician position.
