Gymnastics Professional Coach I

About the Role

This position coaches athletes of all levels, from novice to senior, and organizes individual and small-group athletic lessons with a focus on safety. You will collaborate on lesson plans, greet members, set up practice areas, maintain equipment, and foster positive relationships within the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Coach lower-level programs and monitor work areas to prevent and respond to emergency situations.
  • Explain and enforce safety rules for sports, recreational activities, and exercise equipment.
  • Assess client needs and design workout regimes tailored to their requirements.
  • Provide alternatives during sessions to accommodate varying fitness levels.
  • Track and document client progress accurately.
  • Administer basic first aid for injuries.
  • Maintain exercise equipment, replace damaged materials, and manage inventory supplies.
  • Follow guidelines set by Assistant and Head Coaches.
  • Communicate athlete progress to supervisors and parents.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Stay informed on federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements relevant to the role.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • CPR certification (training provided within 30 days of hire).
  • USA sport-specific certification (current or obtained within 90 days of hire).

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience in a relevant sport (e.g., Aquatics, Gymnastics).

Skills

  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Excellent organizational and self-direction abilities.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and travel for competitions.
  • Knowledge of athlete progressions based on performance.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with peers.

Physical and Environmental Demands

  • Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
  • Physical demands may exceed those of sedentary work, including significant walking, standing, or operating arm/leg controls.
  • No routine exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue; no emergency care or first aid responsibilities.
  • Potential occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or waste within a healthcare setting, depending on job duties.
