About the role

As an Aircraft Maintenance Technician at West Star, you will perform a variety of mechanical tasks on sophisticated civilian aircraft, including troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, as well as inspections and repairs. Responsibilities

  • Perform general mechanical tasks on aircraft and related systems
  • Removal and installation of panels and components
  • Troubleshoot and problem-solve aircraft system/component issues
  • De-fueling aircraft
  • Engine removal and installation
  • Operate ground support equipment
  • Inspect and evaluate aircraft and components
  • Assist in aircraft movement, performance runs, and taxiing
  • Maintain and repair shop facility, equipment, and tooling
  • Navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases using basic computer skills
  • Communicate effectively in English (speaking, writing, reading)
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or valid passport (ideal but not mandatory)
  • Reliable transportation to work each day
  • Ability to work under specific deadlines and time constraints in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated team player
  • Attendance as scheduled, including overtime and weekend assignments
  • Adherence to Federal Aviation Administration guidelines and company safety rules
  • Maintain customer-oriented work habits

Qualifications

Experience and licensing requirements vary by level:

  • AMT I: Airframe or Powerplant license required (Airframe preferred). 0-2 years of experience in aviation maintenance, avionics, or similar. Requires close supervision.
  • AMT II: Airframe or Powerplant license required (Airframe preferred). 2-4 years of experience in aviation maintenance; corporate aircraft experience preferred. Requires general supervision for routine tasks.
  • AMT III: Airframe license required; Powerplant license highly preferred. 4-6+ years of experience in aviation maintenance; corporate aircraft experience highly preferred. Full knowledge of general, detailed, and special assignments.
  • AMT IV (Master): Airframe and Powerplant license required. 6+ years of experience in aviation maintenance with extensive experience on corporate aircraft platforms. Subject matter expert in all areas of the job.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 50 lbs
  • Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting
  • Repetitive physical motion with arms and hands
  • Climb ladders and stairs; work in small, restricted areas
  • Stand for long periods of time

Mental Requirements

  • Understand and implement regulations and guidelines
  • Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation
  • Work professionally with others

Working Conditions

  • Work performed in a hangar environment with extreme temperature variations
  • Work outside during aircraft runs
  • Varied positions in and around the aircraft

Equipment Used

  • Personal hand tools (supplied by the mechanic)
  • Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment
  • Jacks, stands, lifts, and other support devices
  • Tugs, power carts, and other engine-powered equipment

Supervision

Work under the supervision of an assigned Team Leader and Director of Maintenance. May be directed to supervise other technicians in some capacity.

Pay

The range listed is one component of the total compensation package. Additional compensation includes a shift differential for alternate shifts, semi-annual discretionary bonus, 401(k) company match, and employer contribution to a Health Savings Account (HSA).

Schedule

This is a full-time, on-site position for the 2nd shift.
