About the Role
Join the growing Theater Strike Weapon System program portfolio, including Conventional Prompt Strike, Hypersonic Weapon Systems, Sea-Launched Cruise Missile, Hypersonic Payload Delivery systems, and other dynamic programs. As a GNC (Guidance, Navigation, and Control) engineer, you may be involved in:
- Applying missile guidance, navigation, and control expertise to algorithm development, signal and data processing, modeling, and simulation
- Integrating Matlab/Simulink models into a 6-DOF C++ simulation
- Developing high-fidelity models and simulation software
- Writing new source code in C++ and Python
- Modifying code in C++, C, Matlab, Simulink, Fortran, Python, Linux shell, and YAML
- Creating unit tests
- Implementing simulation software on high-performance computing clusters, including Linux systems or VMs
- Working in an Agile DevOps environment with Docker/Container and Kubernetes deployment
- Collaborating with performance-critical thinkers, the Flight Software team, and customers
Successful applicants typically have a minimum of 2+ years of related experience and may hold a post-secondary degree or training in a related discipline. This role involves designing, developing, implementing, verifying, and testing algorithms for guidance, navigation, and control of aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicles, and upper stages during various flight phases.
Requirements
- Broad technical skills in rigid body dynamics, control theory, and/or computer programming
- Proven experience using MATLAB and/or Simulink for simulation and analysis of feedback control systems, closed-loop guidance, or navigation algorithms
- C/C++ programming experience
- Strong math skills in linear algebra, matrix math, statistics, trigonometry, and/or coordinate transformation
- Ability to clearly document analysis results in presentation slides and engineering memos
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment
- U.S. Citizenship required to meet program/customer requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance (required prior to start)
Desired Skills
- Experience with simulations and physics-based modeling
- Experience with state estimation and navigation algorithms, including Extended Kalman Filters
- Experience with kinematics using Euler Angles and Quaternions
- Experience with autopilot design and linear stability analysis, stability and control analysis
- Familiarity or experience with missile defense systems or fire control
- Experience with C++ development and Gitlab
- Experience with FORTRAN and 6DOF simulations
- Experience with model-based software development using Simulink (autocoding)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build consensus among peers
- Familiarity with Agile software development
- Experience with distributed/parallel processing
Pay
Full-Time Salary Range: $91,200 – $169,400. The salary offered considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, and market considerations.

For Washington state applicants only: Non-represented full-time employees accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) and receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full-time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month, up to 52 hours of sick leave annually, and receive at least 96 hours for holidays. Hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
