About the role
This is a seasonal opportunity expected to end on January 2, 2027. The Guest Services Representative provides outstanding customer service and assists the operations department in contributing to the Zoo’s mission.
Responsibilities
- Greet and direct guests, sell admission tickets, and upsell annual memberships and premium experiences at ticket windows.
- Provide exceptional customer service following department guidelines, including guest screening at point of entry.
- Enforce policies and procedures diplomatically for both guests and employees.
- Handle payment transactions accurately using a cash register or computer, adhering to cash handling guidelines.
- Perform accurate and complete data entry for all guests in the Galaxy database (e.g., memberships, third-party tickets, premium tours).
- Offer general guest services, including guiding, day planning, concierge assistance, and payment transactions.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of admissions box offices and front gate/plaza areas.
- Follow daily activity schedules and safety guidelines for guests and staff.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
- Customer service experience preferred.
- Effective communication skills and ability to build positive relationships across departments.
- Ability to complete projects efficiently and meet management expectations.
- Professionalism in dealing with employees, peers, superiors, and the public.
- Strong time management and decision-making in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to follow instructions and adapt to multi-tasking while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Data entry experience: minimum 40 WPM typing and 8,000 KPH alphanumeric.
- Cash handling experience preferred.
- Ability to work in extreme Florida weather (heat, rain, cold) and stand/walk for extended periods.
- Proficiency with radio, telephone, and computer for communication and instructions.
- Manual dexterity for typing, handling tools, and equipment.
- Sufficient cognitive ability, auditory/visual acuity, and communication skills for safety compliance.
- Willingness to work varied shifts, including holidays, weekends, and special events.
- Ability to staff unexpected shifts and special events/exhibits.
- Physical ability to sit, bend, reach, stand, walk, lift/carry up to 30 lbs, and navigate paved or uneven pathways.
- All activities must align with AZA standards, laws, safety, and animal welfare guidelines.
