Guest Experience Associate - idea Museum - Part-Time, Non-Benefited

About the role

Two part-time, non-benefited Guest Experience Associate vacancies at the idea Museum. This recruitment will also be used to establish an eligible list to fill potential future vacancies. The part-time classifications have been designated as non-classified, non-merit system, at-will positions. Employees are expected to uphold the City of Mesa's shared employee values of Knowledge, Respect, and Integrity. The role is supervised by an Office Supervisor or Museum Education Curator, who reviews work through conferences, meetings, observations, participant feedback, and overall results achieved. The position is FLSA nonexempt.

Responsibilities

• Interact with general public patrons to provide information on activities, programming, and rules, and encourage individual and/or caregiver participation.
• Attend exhibit-based training.
• Clean/tear down and maintain general gallery and activity areas.
• Ensure the safety of all museum visitors.
• Collect museum admissions and handle cash.
• Maintain related records.
• Maintain and secure the gallery.
• Monitor and maintain gallery activities and exhibits.
• Support school tours.
• Maintain overall museum safety.
• Work with caregivers and young children to support and inspire early learning creative experiences.
• Process museum admissions and sell museum memberships.
• Complete light administrative tasks.
• Support museum events.
• Regularly use technology.
• Perform related duties as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Some experience (6 months – 1 year) providing direct customer service; working with school‑age and/or pre‑school‑age children; or cash handling.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with or supervising young children (preferred).
• Experience in art, art history, education, or child development (preferred).

Schedule

Part‑time position requiring weekend availability; may also include evenings and some holidays for special museum events.
