About the role

At San Diego Humane Society, you'll serve as the first point of contact for guests visiting or calling SDHS. Your role involves ensuring the guest experience is positive and professional, aligning with the SDHS Way to meet the needs of animals and people.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional service to every guest; acknowledge them as they enter or call SDHS, thank them for coming, determine their needs, answer questions related to our services, and work through their inquiries until resolution.
  • Complete as many quality adoptions as possible by assisting guests in finding an appropriate match for their household and lifestyle while encouraging adopters to take advantage of our risk-free “Adoption Guarantee.”
  • Check guests in and out for relinquishment, euthanasia, and Community Spay and Neuter services.
  • Check in stray animals brought in by the public and gather detailed information and assess stray cat's eligibility for the Community Cat Program as needed.
  • Cross-train and participate in all areas of the Guest Experience including but not limited to Adoptions, Admissions, Stray and Reclaim.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in customer/guest services required, two (2) years preferred.
  • Prior experience working with animals in a kennel, shelter, or veterinary hospital preferred.
  • Bilingual skills a plus, bilingual-Spanish preferred.

Pay

Starting range is between $20.75 – $22.25 per hour and is eligible for an hourly bilingual-Spanish premium. The listed hiring range for this position depicts the target range of pay rates for candidates. The maximum of the hiring range is reserved for candidates with the highest qualifications and relevant experience. Compensation for internal candidates may increase beyond the listed range based on performance over time.

Schedule

This position works 40 hours per week.
