GTS Laboratory Materials Technician

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory tests of materials under the direction of the Laboratory Manager.
  • Test materials including soil, concrete, aggregate, geosynthetics, and other materials.
  • Process, prepare, and test samples for geotechnical testing.
  • Comply with safety guidelines, maintain sample collection, location data, laboratory documentation, and logbooks.
  • Communicate effectively with the laboratory manager, laboratory team, and clients.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results.
  • Support process improvements.
  • Clean and maintain organized work area.
  • Manage sample inventory, archival, and disposal.
  • Perform other duties as required.

General Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively within laboratory teams.
  • Adapt to direction and maintain flexibility in task execution.
  • Provide and receive guidance among peers.
  • Ask questions and seek clarification when needed.
  • Offer instruction or assistance to teammates.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, move, push, and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to kneel and squat occasionally.
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.

Requirements

  • Computer proficiency for data entry in support of report preparation.
  • Experience working in a team environment with other staff members.
  • Assist with other laboratory functions as necessary.
  • Lift more than 50 pounds.
  • Work off shifts and overtime.
  • Read and understand test instructions.
  • Basic math, calculator, and computer skills.

Education and Experience

  • H.S. Diploma / GED preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction testing / inspection of concrete, soil, asphalt, and/or masonry materials.
  • Applicable ACI / ICC Certifications are highly desired.
