Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform research activities and other tasks as necessary in lab environment.
- Accurately record observations and measurements and reports results.
- Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform functions of job.
- Perform a variety of tasks such as: Section, mount, polish, and etch samples.
- Perform sample evaluations in accordance with work instructions. Evaluations include grain size and microstructure features, macro and micro-hardness testing, spectroscopy, filler content determination, surface treatment characterization, among others.
- Use lab equipment such as Optical Microscopes, OES Spectrometer, and Scanning Electron Microscope in the materials characterization process.
- Inspect welds and brazes to ensure conformance to product requirements.
- Prepare and evaluate thermal spray coatings for in-house process validation.
- Assist materials engineers in reverse engineering process of aircraft parts as required.
- Responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining clean work area and equipment.
- Work under immediate supervision.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Associate’s degree preferred. Experience in materials science, metallurgy, or related field. Knowledge of materials characterization techniques and equipment. Proficiency in using laboratory instruments and equipment. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical ability to perform tasks in a laboratory setting.
