Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of survey crew chiefs, technicians, and support staff across multiple offices and project sites
  • Foster a collaborative, safety-focused, and high-performance team culture
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development to advance technical and leadership skills
  • Support hiring, onboarding, workload planning, and succession planning for the survey group
  • Serve as a primary client liaison for key surveying and geospatial accounts in Delaware and Maryland
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with public and private sector clients
  • Support and lead business development efforts, including scoping, pricing, proposals, and interviews
  • Identify opportunities to expand services and grow repeat work
  • Provide technical oversight and quality control for boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, construction layout, and utility surveys
  • Support and integrate Reality Capture services such as terrestrial scanning, mobile mapping, UAV/LiDAR, and photogrammetry
  • Establish and reinforce best practices, standards, and workflows for survey and reality capture deliverables
  • Ensure compliance with state licensure requirements, safety standards, and QA/QC procedures
  • Manage group performance related to financial results, utilization, backlog, and client satisfaction
  • Collaborate with the Mid-Atlantic Survey Leader on annual business planning and staffing forecasts
  • Promote continuous improvement through technology adoption and process efficiency

Requirements

  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and/or Maryland (or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe)
  • 10+ years of progressive land surveying experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities
  • Demonstrated experience managing survey teams and overseeing complex surveying projects
  • Proven ability to build client relationships and contribute to business development efforts
  • Strong understanding of field operations, CAD/GIS workflows, and survey data management
  • Knowledge of and experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D (2018 or newer), Trimble Business Center, ArcGIS
  • Well-versed in survey-related technology and equipment (Robotic Total Stations, GPS, Data Collectors)
  • Knowledge of and understanding of plan preparation (i.e. topographic surveys, boundary surveys, ALTA Surveys, base mapping, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of survey law (legal descriptions), cost estimating, survey research, and survey task scheduling

Preferred Qualifications

  • Multi-state licensure or experience working across the Mid-Atlantic region
  • Experience supporting or delivering Reality Capture and advanced geospatial services
  • Familiarity with survey data integration into engineering and design workflows
  • Experience in a consulting engineering or multidisciplinary firm environment

Pay

The compensation range for this position is $135,000 - $150,000, with final compensation determined based on years of experience, qualifications, and licensing status.
