Group Leader, General Assembly
About the role
The Group Leader oversees daily assembly operations in the general assembly department. Key responsibilities include ensuring efficient production processes, adhering to quality standards, maintaining safety, leading a team, and driving continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations to achieve timely and quality production of automotive Trim, Chassis, or Final Line.
- Maintain production schedules and adjust resources to meet demand and delivery timelines.
- Collaborate with production planning, logistics, and engineering teams to optimize workflow and resolve bottlenecks.
- Enforce safety standards, conduct regular audits, and promote a safety-first culture.
- Lead, coach, and develop Team Leaders and Team Members, setting goals and managing staffing levels.
- Ensure compliance with company quality standards and customer specifications, addressing non-conformances and implementing corrective actions.
- Drive lean manufacturing initiatives, analyze production data, and lead cost reduction efforts through waste elimination and process optimization.
- Track and report KPIs such as OEE, scrap rate, downtime, and labor efficiency, preparing production reports for senior management.
Requirements
- 8+ years related experience with Bachelor's degree, 6 years with Master's degree, 3 years with PhD or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Automotive OEM experience preferred.
- Experience with Just-In-Time (JIT) manufacturing.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of trim line processes and automotive interior components.
- Proven leadership skills and ability to manage cross-functional teams.
- Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and ERP systems.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and production planning software.

Pay
The compensation for this position is the range Slate reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account various factors. Base Pay Range (Annual): $123,339.00 - $185,009.00 USD Annual.
