Group Lead II

Lead the work area and be accountable for workflow, training, and communication within the group and with customers and suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the processing of all jobs in the assigned area and assign team members to work centers on all shifts.
• Communicate with management, production control, setup personnel, operators, and support staff to sustain proper workflow.
• Adjust the daily work plan for expedites and priorities from other areas of the plant.
• Use tools to collect and record data on setups, downtime, quantities, scrap tickets, and return-to-stock items.
• Monitor and report on performance measures such as throughput time, labor utilization, quantities, and safety; communicate this information to team members, other group leaders, and management.
• Provide hands-on assistance in any team function when needed, including Set-up “A” duties.
• Provide or arrange training for team members on job functions, safety, and quality.
• Perform administrative tasks, including resolving job packet issues (errors, drawing discrepancies), bill and routing issues, and material return-to-stock or scrap ticket problems.
• Monitor the team’s skill and training needs, measure performance in throughput time, customer service (WIP aging, idle time), utilization, efficiency, and quality (yield & scrap).
• Maintain a skill matrix/cross-training chart and recommend corrective actions to management.
• Organize and implement improvement projects/programs (e.g., 5S, Kaizen Blitz) and mentoring initiatives.
• Identify cost-reduction opportunities and initiate activities to realize savings.
• Serve as backup for all foreperson duties in their absence.
• Perform other duties as required.
