Groundskeeper- Full Time
About the Role
Operation of weedeater, edger, mower, chainsaw, trencher, tractors, and any other equipment needed for turf and bed care. Caring for, repotting, deadheading, pruning, and planting of trees, plants, and shrubs. Weeding, watering, mulching, and trenching of bedding and pond care. Chemical application for pest and weed control. Onsite trash and debris collection. Operation of motorized cart. Assistance on special projects and special events. Willingness to work as a team within the Golf Department and other departments when needed. Exhibits a friendly, helpful, and courteous manner when dealing with customers and fellow team members. Any and all duties as assigned by a Supervisor or member of management.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must be physically able to work in extreme cold and heat conditions.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 80 lbs, bend, climb, and hold equipment for long periods of time.
- Work in all weather conditions.
- Some weekend work required.
- Some turf experience preferred.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other team members.
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money, weight measurement, volume, and distance.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to operate both heavy and light equipment.
- Must be able to use hand tools in a safe manner.
- Ability to withstand excessive heat and humidity.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to climb or balance.
- Occasionally required to taste or smell.
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
- Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat.
- Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and vibration.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
