Groundskeeper

About the role

Responsible for keeping the grounds of the property in an attractive condition; maintaining exteriors, common areas, vacant apartments, sidewalks, and alleyways in a clean and safe condition. Assists in other types of maintenance when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Maintains property grounds of community.
• Picks up litter on grounds.
• Maintains interior hallways and stairwells.
• Maintains watering and drainage systems.
• Assists in inventory control and upkeep of all grounds equipment and supplies.
• Assists with any emergency maintenance, as well as on-call duties for emergencies.
• Cleans all hallways and common areas including laundry center.
• Cleans all parking areas.
• Cleans all sidewalks and alleyways.
• Assists with unit turnaround for new residents.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• 1 to 3 months related on-the-job experience or training.
• Must be well organized and a self-starter.
• Perform general maintenance repair tasks professionally without endangering yourself, residents, or fellow associates.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
• Must be team-oriented and a problem solver.
• Maintain professional appearance and manner at all times.
• May be required to work extended periods without relief when responding to priority/emergency situations.
• Stooping, standing, climbing, and frequent lifting of a minimum of 50 lbs. of equipment (pump, tools, ladders) and ability to safely install rigging/lifting devices.
• Lift and carry objects of up to 50 lbs. for distances of up to 30 feet.
• Climb ladders and stairs.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Mobility and flexibility to use ladders to heights in excess of 8 to 9 feet.
