Essential Job Duties
- Mow and trim lawns in assigned areas.
- Lawn maintenance, such as reseeding and weed control in assigned areas.
- Apply chemical feeding and pest control.
- Perform landscaping duties.
- Remove ice and snow from walk ways, steps and parking areas.
- Keeps campus area, building entries, parking lots and lawns free of trash and debris.
- Report and correct safety hazards.
- Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
- Comply with college policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including attending college functions, including serving on committees and attending community events.
Non-Essential Job Duties
- Provide routine care and maintenance for mowing equipment, trimmers, saws and hand tools.
- Properly dispose of hazardous chemicals or waste.
- Properly store and inventory supplies with in assigned areas and notifies supervisor of deficiencies.
- Develop procedures for inventory control, notes discrepancies and turn in all packing slips.
- Attend employee in-service programs to improve work performance.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to push and pull up to 150 lbs.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to document and maintain appropriate records, logs and reports.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to use information technology for professional productivity (such as Microsoft Office Suite).
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Two years of experience as a groundskeeper.
- National Career Readiness Certificate.
- Experience with Colleague.
- Experience working within a collegiate setting.
Physical Demands and Working Environment
- Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting with frequent interruptions and distractions.
- Requires extended periods of time viewing computer monitor or standing; may require adjustment of schedule to include some evening and/or weekends; may encounter occasional exposure to inclement weather during travel.
- Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard.
Environmental Conditions
- Employees in these locations need to work under Extreme Cold, Extreme Heat and Extreme Humidity.
- Exposures noted include High Noise, Dust, Fumes, Smoke, Vibration, Slippery Surfaces and Moving Machinery.
