Groundskeeper

Responsibilities

• Mow grass and trim grass around buildings, trees, bushes, rooftops, curbs, blacktop, and gutters
• Maintain and repair lawn mowers and other equipment
• Perform vehicle maintenance, including unlocking doors and jumpstarting vehicles for students, faculty, and staff
• Assist in snow removal and maintain sprayer license re-certification
• Assist with painting curbs and gutters
• Participate in various investigative boards and hearings
• Maintain and repair golf carts
• Assist in construction work, including trimming, removal, and planting of trees, bushes, and flower gardens
• Assist with inventory and ordering of parts and supplies
• Assist the mailroom as needed
• Maintain vehicle maintenance records
• Perform welding and torch work
• Assist athletics with various duties
• Move furniture and supplies to and from offices and classrooms
• Perform pest control
• Assist with tent setup and breakdown
• Answer phones when the secretary is out
• Perform janitorial duties
• Train part-time help in equipment operation and other duties
• Participate in annual Blood Borne Pathogens training
• Wear a college-supplied uniform for identification

Requirements

• Ability to receive and convey instructions accurately and quickly
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work in conditions with dust, noise, fumes, and odors
• Ability to work in both inside and outside environmental conditions
• Physical ability to perform activities such as climbing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, pulling, lifting, grasping, twisting, sitting, and feeling
• Willingness to wear or use provided safety equipment as required

Schedule

This position requires a flexible schedule that may include weekends, holidays, and college emergencies. Designated as "essential" personnel, the role may require reporting to work outside normal work hours, including during inclement weather for snow removal and other college activities.
