Job Summary

Join our team as a Grounds Technician and help keep our parks safe, clean, and beautiful! You'll perform a variety of maintenance tasks, including trimming, weeding, and ensuring restrooms and park facilities are in top shape. Responsibilities

  • Performs the full range of grounds maintenance: rakes, edges, and trims lawns, trims trees, waters and weeds shrub and flower beds.
  • Aids at City-sponsored events when needed.
  • Operates power edgers, and other small grounds maintenance equipment; monitors irrigation systems.
  • Uses knowledge of fertilizer formulations for use in spreaders and or other proper fertilizer applicators.
  • Maintains restrooms; picks up litter; paints, and performs minor repairs on facilities, equipment, park furnishings and amenities.
  • Performs preventative maintenance including checking and changing oil and minor repair of equipment including vehicle, pole saw, chain saw, blower, and weed-eater.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (must obtain TX driver’s license within 90 days).

Preferred

  • Previous lawn maintenance experience.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Ability to perform minor repairs, follow written and oral instructions and operate tools and machinery necessary for maintenance and repairs.

Overall Position Strength

  • Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
