Grounds Maintenance Worker

About the role

Tessera is seeking a Skilled and professional Grounds Maintenance Worker with a positive attitude.

Duties

• Maintain and repair the grounds up to and around the facilities
• Perform mowing, trimming, edging, weed and brush control
• Pick up and remove all rubbish, debris, and trash (including but not limited to: rocks, paper, pinecones, limbs, and other portable objects) within the maintenance area and all trash, papers and limbs lodged in shrubs, hedges, fences, and along foundation walls
• Load large wheel barrels with debris
• Perform basic maintenance of grounds equipment
• May operate a tractor and/or mower, weed eaters, chain saws, pressure washer and brush cutters
• Demonstrate ability to multi-task throughout workday, with constant interruptions
• Utilize company cell phones and respond to phone calls promptly
• Remove snow from walkways, driveways, roads, or parking lots using shovel and snow blower; spreads salt on walkways and other areas

Qualifications

• 6 months experience in ground maintenance or prior laborer experience is preferred
• Work both independently and in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
• Read and understand contract requirements and maps

Physical requirements

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis.

• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties
• Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking
• Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required
• Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time

Requirements

• A valid state driver's license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera's insurance
• Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military ID, in accordance with the REAL ID Act
• Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access
• A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position
• An AmeriCorps application is required (may include a resume)

Pay & schedule

• Compensation: $21.68-$21.68/hour
