Grounds Maintenance / Porter

About the role

The Porter is responsible for creating a warm and welcoming environment by keeping the community tidy and assisting in fixing minor issues throughout the grounds and buildings.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of cleaning and maintenance duties as assigned, including but not limited to:
• Touch up paint in breezeways
• Pick up grounds
• Bleach breezeway stains
• Clean elevators
• Check and change all light bulbs
• Empty trashcans
• Blow out breezeways and garages
• Walk breezeways
• Pressure wash buildings and sidewalks
• Empty pet stations
• Perform minor or routine maintenance
• Clean clubhouse, fitness center, and bathrooms
• Report all property discrepancies to Supervisor

Skills & Qualifications

• Previous custodial experience preferred
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills required
• High school diploma or equivalency preferred
• Capable of working extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary
• Must be able to speak English clearly and understandably to exchange and receive information over the telephone
• Position involves sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, shoving, lifting, carrying, and moving objects up to 50 lbs
• Must be able to climb several flights of stairs if necessary
• Must alternate between working indoors in a controlled climate and outdoors in variable conditions
• Must be able to interact with diverse individuals, remain mentally alert, detail-oriented, and use good reasoning skills
• Must be able to work on multiple assignments with frequent interruptions, changes, and delays
• Must remain focused and work effectively, efficiently, and cheerfully under such circumstances
• Must remain alert to working conditions and aware of safety, health, and environmental concerns

Pay

$19.00–$20.00 per hour
