Grounds Maintenance DHS Laredo, Texas

About the role

PCSIs looking for a Grounds Maintenance position at Laredo Border Patrol. The position reports to Luis Molina and is based in Laredo, Texas. Typical work hours are Morning Shift: 6am to 2:30pm.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of grounds maintenance functions in a variety of skilled and semi-skilled craft trades to support assigned contract.
• Aid in the planning, layout, and completion of modifications and repairs.
• Achieve minor grounds maintenance tasks to proficiency.
• Perform preventive maintenance and cleaning of grounds equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of prior experience in grounds keeping or landscaping preferred.
• Ability to climb, bend, squat, lift and carry objects ranging from 10-60 pounds; occasionally push objects up to 100 pounds; walk up to 90%.
• Knowledge of methods used in grounds keeping, including use of all types of lawn equipment.
• Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and heavy machinery.
• Accuracy and speed in work performed.
• Read, understand, and complete incoming work orders.
• Understand and follow policies, procedures, and regulations as needed.
• Communicate both orally and in written format.
• Work as a team member and develop effective working relationships with other staff and clients.

Qualifications

• Pass criminal, drug, and driving screenings.
• Work outside in inclement weather as needed and be exposed to various dirt, debris, and odors.
• Work any time or day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
• Possess valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
• If required, ability to obtain and maintain security clearance and base access to assigned site(s).
