Job Responsibilities
- Oversight of operations in multiple cemeteries.
- Establish and communicate work, quality, and safety expectations.
- Coordinate staff work and time-off schedules.
- Manage grounds keeping, landscaping, and seasonal plantings.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and wildlife regulations.
- Build business relationships with local government authorities.
- Identify and implement efficiencies.
- Support change initiatives.
- Source and select vendors.
- Procure, store, and maintain sufficient inventory of tools, materials, equipment, and lawn treatments.
- Review and approve invoices for payment.
- Maintain equipment in proper working order.
- Manage mausoleum new construction.
- Prepare budgets, vendor sourcing and selection for new construction.
- Manage new construction build addressing and resolving issues.
- Collaborate with the home office on capital expenditure projects.
- Develop annual operating budget, personnel budget, and management expenses.
- Plan for equipment replacement.
People Development
- Develop a strong, trusting, and reliable team.
- Understand team members' career aspirations and provide assignments to develop skills and close gaps.
- Constructively address issues and provide timely appropriate feedback.
- Apply a proactive and collaborative management style to increase employee engagement and minimize turnover.
- Screens candidates (internal and external) and hire or promote a skilled and effective staff.
- Recommend pay increases and career advancements.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- At least eight (8) years cemetery maintenance experience with increasing responsibilities.
- At least two (2) years supervising and managing staff.
- Environmental regulatory compliance experience.
- New Construction / capital expenditure developmental experience.
