PURPOSE

Aids the Grocery Manager in overseeing the Grocery Department, assisting in staffing, inventory, and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Champions Albertson's customer service initiatives.
  • Handles customer relations positively, resolving complaints.
  • Supports the implementation of Company and Division merchandising policies.
  • May act as a backup cashier and engage in suggestive selling.
  • Prepares "to do lists," closes out items, and implements price changes.
  • Controls shrinkage and prevents out-of-code product sales.
  • Ensures store compliance with sanitation, safety, and security policies.
  • Implements emergency procedures during equipment or software malfunctions.
  • Supervises associates and handles customer complaints in absence of Store Director and Grocery Manager.
  • Performs duties of Receiving Clerk in absence of Receiving Clerk.

Qualifications

  • Extensive retail background with prior management experience.
  • Thorough understanding of Company practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Good leadership and interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of employment laws and workplace practices.

  • Knowledge of product variety, location, and perishability.
  • Ability to deal with vendors, customers, the public, and government agencies.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Knowledge and ability to operate and train others on Front-End cash registers and/or scanning equipment.
  • Knowledge and ability to implement emergency procedures.
