PURPOSE
Aids the Grocery Manager in overseeing the Grocery Department, assisting in managing staff and ensuring operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Champions customer service initiatives to meet divisional goals.
- Handles customer relations positively, resolving complaints effectively.
- Promotes Albertson's personalized service philosophy.
- Performs ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, stocking, and merchandising duties.
- Assists Grocery Manager in planning, organizing, and directing daily operations.
- Implements Company and Division merchandising policies and Store Director instructions.
- Might oversee cash registers in the absence of the Receiving Clerk.
- Engages in suggestive selling and sales techniques.
- Manages cash register detail tapes, handles money transactions, and implements price changes.
- Prepares "to do" lists for night stockers, closes out discontinued items, and controls shrinkage.
- Ensures compliance with Company policies, recommends corrective actions, and implements emergency procedures.
- Supervises store operations in the absence of the Store Director and Grocery Manager.
- Performs other necessary duties as assigned.

- Extensive retail background with prior management experience.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Good leadership and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to manage and develop people.
- Composure in dealing with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
- Knowledge of employment laws and workplace practices.
- Knowledge of basic mathematics and weights and measures.
- Ability to deal with vendors, customers, the public, and government agencies.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, lift, maneuver objects up to 80 lbs., and operate various equipment.
- Attention to detail and analytical ability to handle administrative tasks.
- Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination.
- Compliance with Company policies and safety standards.
