Responsibilities
- Absorb and maintain a safe and clean environment to encourage customer loyalty.
- Achieve and exceed sales and profit targets set by the department manager.
- Maintain and adhere to all quality assurance standards.
- Implement and promote the Customer 1st strategy, encouraging associates to provide excellent customer service.
- Embody the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
- Handle stressful situations effectively and communicate clearly.
- Show knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
- Gain and retain knowledge of products sold within the department and be prepared to answer questions and suggest products.
- Offer product samples to introduce customers to new items or products they inquire about.
- Inform customers about dairy specials and provide fresh products as requested.
- Recommend products to meet customer needs and desires.
- Check product quality to ensure freshness and label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Display a positive attitude and stay updated on store promotions, ads, and special offers.
- Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines, ensuring proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are kept.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and notifying store management.
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting items needing repair to the appropriate department or store manager.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
- Report all safety risks, illegal activities, including but not limited to robbery, theft, or fraud.
Requirements
- Minimum ability to handle stressful situations.
- Effective communication skills.
- Basic math skills (counting, addition, and subtraction).
- Desired retail experience.
- Ability to promote trust and respect among associates.
- Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
- Ability to provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.
