Responsibilities

  • Absorb and maintain a safe and clean environment to encourage customer loyalty.
  • Achieve and exceed sales and profit targets set by the department manager.
  • Maintain and adhere to established quality assurance standards.
  • Embrace and implement the Customer 1st strategy, encouraging associates to provide excellent customer service.
  • Display respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety in all interactions.
  • Handle stressful situations effectively and communicate clearly.
  • Show knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department.
  • Offer product samples and suggest products to customers.
  • Inform customers about dairy specials and provide fresh products.
  • Check product quality, review "sell by" dates, and label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
  • Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and maintain proper temperatures.
  • Participate in safety programs by following procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and reporting incidents.
  • Practice preventive maintenance and report equipment needing repair.
  • Notify management of customer or employee accidents and report safety risks and illegal activities.
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational, and cooperative manner.
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
  • Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.

Qualifications

  • Minimum ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
  • Desired retail experience.
  • Ability to promote trust and respect among associates.
  • Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
  • Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
  • Ability to provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.
