GROCERY/CLERK

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages customers to return.
• Aid the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals.
• Maintain quality assurance standards.
• Embrace the Customer 1st strategy and encourage associates to provide excellent customer service.
• Communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold in the department.
• Offer product samples and suggest new items to customers.
• Inform customers about dairy specials and fresh products.
• Check product quality and label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report discrepancies in product ordering and shipping to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude and stay updated on store promotions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and maintain proper temperatures.
• Participate in safety programs by identifying unsafe conditions and reporting incidents.
• Practice preventive maintenance and report equipment needing repair.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents and report safety risks and illegal activities.

Requirements

• Minimum ability to handle stressful situations.
• Effective communication skills.
• Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction).
• Retail experience preferred.
• Ability to promote trust and respect among associates.
• Ability to manage conflict in a cooperative manner.
• Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary.
• Ability to provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
