Grinder Team Lead (PM)

About the role
Assist the Supervisor with day-to-day team management, train team members as needed, and grind parts to conform to blueprints and drawings.
Responsibilities
- Independently set up any grinding machine, adjusting taper, roundness, and surface per set-up instructions.
- Update the schedule/production list and distribute work to the team as needed.
- Train the grinding team on new or updated processes.
- Focus on continuous improvement using process improvement tools such as 7S.
- Ensure the team follows all safety guidelines.
- Operate machines while maintaining blueprint specifications.
- Perform stability studies of gauges used.
- Load and edit programs as needed.
- Perform initial inspections.
- Troubleshoot any issues.
- Assist the Grinders team with grinding issues.
- Assist with process improvement tools, such as DOE.
- Maintain a clean work environment.
- Comply with all safety and sanitation regulations.
- Use all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required and instructed.
- Other duties as assigned by the manager.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 5 or more years of experience as a machinist/tool maker/Grinder with manual machining experience; CNC knowledge is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to set up and troubleshoot Throughfeed, Infeed, Cylindrical, and ID machines.
- Ability to work with a strong sense of urgency to complete tasks.
- Ability to read, communicate, and explain required documents for production and other company communications in English.
- Ability to develop or improve processes on new or existing parts with a complete understanding of grinding fundamentals and practices.
- Ability to use all relevant measurement equipment.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions given in English.
- Ability to meet quality and productivity standards.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Lift and move up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Able to stand for long periods of time.
Work Environment
Majority of the work time is spent in a manufacturing environment where temperatures can vary, and noise levels may range from moderate to high. PPE required includes safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, and safety shoes.
Pay
$25.00 - $30.00 per hour, based on experience.
