About the role

The Grinder Operator is responsible for setting up and operating centerless grinding machines to produce parts to blueprint specifications. Responsibilities include monitoring the grinding process, inspecting finished parts, maintaining equipment, and collaborating with various teams to ensure quality and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate centerless grinding machines to produce parts to exact tolerances.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and job orders to determine part specifications.
  • Maintain accurate production and quality records and complete required documentation.
  • Collaborate with production supervision, quality control, and engineering teams to resolve issues and implement improvements.
  • Monitor and achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as production output, quality standards, efficiency, and safety compliance.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning to ensure equipment longevity and efficiency.
  • Inspect finished parts using measurement instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.

Requirements

  • Duties & Responsibilities as outlined above.
  • Education & Training: High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSE). Technical certification in machining or manufacturing processes preferred.
  • Knowledge & Experience: 2+ years of experience operating centerless grinding machines in a manufacturing environment preferred. Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other quality management systems. Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints. Strong knowledge of precision measuring instruments and quality inspection techniques.
  • Skills & Abilities: Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail. Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time. Frequently required to reach and use hands and arms continuously.

Qualifications

  • Physical Demands: Regularly required to sit, stand, stoop, climb, walk, use hands, talk, and hear for a minimum of eight (8) hours per shift.
