About the Role
This position supports the program in providing facility-based peer support group programs to grieving children (ages 1 month through high school graduation) and their adult family members. Responsibilities include oversight of families and volunteers during evening support group programs, covering planning, logistics, clinical assessments, and volunteer coordination. This is a part-time role averaging 16 hours per week, primarily during evening hours that vary weekly based on program needs.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement introductory and ongoing peer support sessions for grieving children and their families.
- Conduct thorough assessments to determine a family’s appropriateness for the Caring Place program and/or need for other community services.
- Provide guidance and support for the volunteer team during support group sessions.
- Participate in the training of peer support group session volunteers.
- Other duties as assigned or requested.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Child Development, Counseling, or a related field (required).
- 0–2 years of experience working with children and/or families in a mental health setting, including experience in therapy and/or support groups.
- Ability to work variable hours, including regular evenings and occasional weekends.
- Knowledge of local mental health and social service agencies.
- Travel requirement: 0%–25%.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in the field of Grief and Loss.
- 3 years of public speaking and/or community engagement.
- Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), School Counseling Certification, Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), or Certified Art Therapist.
