About the Role
The Greeter performs various customer service activities, including greeting all customers in a prompt and friendly manner, handling merchandise with care, providing information and direction, distributing promotional materials, and other front-end tasks to support business needs. Greeters are expected to deliver an exceptional customer service experience, ensuring customers feel welcomed and appreciated.
Responsibilities
- Greet all customers as they enter the store in a friendly and outgoing manner.
- Actively promote programs including CLUB Membership (US only), VOC, and In-Store Pickup.
- Model brand-standard customer service by adhering to the dress code (green logo shirt for Bass Pro Shops or tan logo shirt for Cabela’s), wearing a visible name badge, and maintaining a professional appearance with a smile, eye contact, and welcoming body language.
- Check in all customers’ merchandise for returns.
- Check in all vendor representatives, complete necessary visitor log information, and control visitor badges.
- Remain aware of all "Special events" in the store and inform customers of event details, sales, or promotions; distribute promotional materials as needed.
- Ensure the entryway and surrounding work area remain clean, tidy, and safe for customers and staff.
- Assist with customer check-in of firearms/weapons by notifying the appropriate trained and designated staff to complete the process per company SOP. Note: Greeters should never accept, possess, or handle a firearm while performing their duties.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (minimum requirement).
- Experience in a customer service environment.
Skills
- Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Adaptability to new processes and procedures.
- Self-motivation and ability to work unsupervised.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly walks and stands; occasionally performs computer work.
- Lifts up to 50 pounds; occasionally moves and lifts objects up to 100 pounds or more (team lift may be required).
- Constantly communicates with others to exchange information.
- Constantly repeats motions involving wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Occasionally works in low or high temperatures, outdoor elements (e.g., precipitation, wind), or noisy environments.
- Light work involving constant movement and lifting objects up to 20 pounds.
