Green Tech Education and Employment Grant

About the role

The Sacramento Audubon Board seeks a dedicated individual to support the partnership between Sacramento Audubon and Green Tech Education and Employment. This role will focus on enhancing the urban farm environment to attract birds and develop educational programs related to environmental and wildlife employment.

Responsibilities

• Enhance the urban farm environment to attract birds using provided bird feeders, birdseed, binoculars, and bird identification books.
• Collaborate with Green Tech staff to plan and organize field trips to local parks and conserved habitats for bird observation and discussion of career options and conservation.
• Develop educational materials and activities to engage Green Tech students in bird identification and conservation practices.
• Assist in maintaining the urban farm and its bird-friendly features.

Requirements

• Experience with bird identification and conservation.
• Knowledge of urban farming and environmental education.
• Ability to work collaboratively with Green Tech staff and students.
• Basic computer skills for data management and communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in environmental education or related field.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Skills

• Knowledge of local bird species.
• Experience with urban agriculture.
• Ability to lead educational workshops.
• Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
