Graphics System Workflow Engineer
Summary
The Graphics System Workflow Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and continuously improving automated workflows that support the end-to-end graphics production process. This role works at the intersection of Graphics, IT, and Operations to ensure efficient, scalable, and reliable processing of customer artwork through production systems.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities
Workflow Development & Automation
- Design, build, and maintain automated workflows for graphics production using tools such as Esko Automation Engine and related technologies
- Analyze production workflows to identify bottlenecks and implement scalable improvements
- Implement workflow enhancements to reduce manual effort and improve consistency, accuracy, and speed
Systems Administration & Support
- Administer and support graphics collaboration platforms (e.g., WebCenter) including projects, templates, workflows, and user access
- Troubleshoot and resolve workflow, file, and system integration issues across graphics systems
- Ensure reliable operation of automated workflows and production systems
Process Improvement & Optimization
- Evaluate end-to-end graphics processes to drive continuous improvement and standardization
- Partner cross-functionally to align workflows with business requirements and production goals
- Lead or support process improvement initiatives that enhance throughput, quality, and turnaround time
Technology Implementation & Integration
- Support the evaluation, testing, and deployment of new graphics and workflow technologies
- Aid with system integrations between graphics platforms and upstream/downstream business systems
- Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and enhancements
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Graphics, Account Services, Production, and IT teams to support operational needs
- Provide technical expertise and support to internal users and external customers
- Communicate system capabilities, limitations, and recommended improvements
Documentation & Training
- Document workflows, procedures, and technical solutions to support standardization and knowledge transfer
- Develop and deliver training related to workflow tools, systems, and process changes
- Support adoption of new technologies and process improvements
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Four (4) years of college with a degree in Computer science or Information Technology; or a combination of education and relevant professional experience that provides equivalent expertise
Experience: Proficiency with Mac OS
Skills: Strong experience with Esko products (Automation Engine, WebCenter, etc.) or other workflow automation, scripting, or system integration tools
Technical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement solutions
Communication: Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
Continuous Improvement: Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on automation, scalability, and efficiency
Attention to Detail: High attention to detail with a focus on quality, accuracy, and consistency
Other: Familiarity with XML, JavaScript, or other automation-related technologies preferred
