About the Role

White Pine County is seeking a detail-oriented and persuasive Grants Writer to identify, pursue, and manage funding opportunities that support the agency's programs and strategic priorities. This is an on-site, full-time position requiring close collaboration with program managers, finance staff, and executive leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Research and identify federal, state, local, and private foundation grant opportunities aligned with agency priorities and eligibility requirements.
  • Write, edit, and submit clear, compelling, and compliant grant proposals, letters of intent, and applications within funder deadlines.
  • Develop budgets and budget narratives in coordination with finance and program staff.
  • Maintain a master grants calendar tracking application deadlines, reporting deadlines, and renewal opportunities.
  • Coordinate with program directors to gather data, outcomes, and supporting documentation needed for proposals and reports.
  • Prepare and submit timely progress reports, financial reports, and other deliverables required by funders.
  • Ensure all grant activities comply with agency policy and applicable federal/state grant regulations (e.g., Uniform Guidance/2 CFR 200).
  • Maintain organized records of submitted proposals, awarded grants, and reporting documentation for audit readiness.
  • Track grant performance metrics and communicate funding outcomes to leadership.
  • Build and maintain relationships with funding agencies, foundation program officers, and community partners.
  • Stay current on emerging grant opportunities, funder priorities, and best practices in grant writing.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma/GED required; associate’s degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record of securing funding through successfully written grant proposals.
  • Strong research, writing, editing, and proofreading skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of grant compliance suggested.
  • Proficiency with grant management/tracking software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across departments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience writing grants for a government agency, municipality, or public sector entity.
  • 1–2 years of professional grant writing experience, preferably in a government or public-sector setting.
  • Familiarity with federal grant portals (e.g., Grants.gov) and state grant management systems.
  • Experience with budget development and financial reporting for grant-funded programs.
  • Certified Grant Writer (GPC) or similar professional credential (to be obtained in the first year).

Work Environment

This is an on-site position based in White Pine County. Standard business hours apply, with occasional flexibility required to meet funder deadlines.

Pay

Grade 123: $23.61 – $25.29 hourly.
