About the role
The Grant Writer at SUNY Niagara is responsible for identifying, developing, preparing, and coordinating grant proposals to support the College's mission. This position involves researching potential funding opportunities, drafting and editing grant materials, and collaborating with faculty and leadership.
Responsibilities
- Drafts, prepares, and edits materials for proposal and report writing for various funding sources.
- Researches potential funding opportunities and matches them with campus and system needs.
- Makes presentations to faculty, staff, funding sources, or administration as needed.
- Researches, writes, edits, and coordinates the development of grant materials for federal, state, local, and private grantors.
- Drafts grant budget templates in accordance with College policies and procedures and funder guidelines.
- Utilizes online submission portals to download templates, draft materials, and review programmatic guidelines.
- Organizes and coordinates the work of proposal teams, including both internal and external members.
- Aids in maintaining continued funding for grants received by the College through drafting required reports, revisions, and materials for review and submission.
- Maintains awareness of all active grant projects and regularly reviews materials within the Grant database.
- Participates in regular meetings with grant project coordinators/activity directors to stay informed about ongoing project activities and necessary grant reporting.
- Applies principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in writing, editing, and developing meaningful grant projects.
- Researches relevant data to support meaningful grant narrative and justification based on award preferences noted by various funding entities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- One (1) year of experience writing grants for submission to federal, state, and/or private sectors.
