Overall Responsibilities
- Analysis of monthly expenditures of federal, state and city grants
- Budget to actual reporting on government grants and contracts
- Working closely with program directors in planning and preparing annual budget modifications, as needed
- Preparation of monthly closing entries and requests for reimbursement
- Communication with the applicable funding sources
- Preparation and analysis of grant funded program profit and loss statements, variance analysis
- Program budget development
- Journal entries for grant personnel, fringe benefits and OTPS expenditures
- Grant closeouts and adjusting entries (AR, AR aging) as necessary.
- Maintain approved budget and budget modification ensuring effective utilization of grant funds supporting program objectives and staffing requirements
- Prepare periodic analyses throughout the year to estimate projected annual spending
- Document preparation for audits and desk reviews of city, state, federal grants, and contracts
- Affiliate with organization annual and program-specific external audit
- Other projects assigned by the Director of Grants and Senior Officers.
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in grants or general accounting
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general ledger accounting software (INTACCT)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working in a Not-for-Profit agency
- Experience working with New York City contracts with the Department of Homeless Services, Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and Human Resource Administration in the NYC Passport system and through the NYC Payee Information Portal.
- Experience working with contracts with the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH), Office of Addiction Services and Support (OASAS) and using the New York State Grants Gateway system.
- Experience with the preparation of the New York State Consolidated Fiscal Report
- Knowledge and experience with the reporting functions of the Intacct accounting and financial management software
- Experience with NYS budget portal; Certified Budget Report (CBR)
