Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is a nonresidential two-year institution of higher education serving Central Virginia – principally residents of the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, and Nelson. Our scenic campus is located in Albemarle County, Virginia.

About the role

To ensure that all accounting records and financial statements meet required accounting standards and to meet all reporting requirements of local, state, and federal agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Process grant transactions and reimbursements in compliance with grantor.
  • Work with grants office to ensure proper expenditures are recorded and reimbursed in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with Workforce Development to process invoices.
  • Ensure WES refunds are processed in a timely manner.
  • Reconcile WES to SIS monthly to ensure both systems are accurate.
  • Act as liaison with Shared Services Center and handle issues in Perceptive Content.
  • Ensure timely prompt pay by verifying the purchase order, receiving, and invoices have a three-way match to process payments.
  • Work with Shared Services Center to resolve procurement and payment issues.
  • Act as eVA Champion for the college and provide assistance to college staff on eVA.
  • Create requisitions in eVA and process receiving on orders to ensure timely prompt pay.
  • Serve as the data entry contact for the business office by entering journal entries, vouchers, and other disbursements in the Accounting Information System.
  • Verify data entries for the department.
  • Maintain the fixed asset inventory records of the college, including additions, deletions, and surplus inventory.
  • Maintain the ETF log used to request reimbursement.
  • Serve as backup to the cashier, including accepting payments, reviewing student accounts, and performing general student account updates.
  • Assist in other office operations as required.
  • Administer the Records Destruction for the financial files of the college.
  • Embrace and promote the core values of PVCC in job performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate ability to apply and adapt accounting principles.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of spreadsheet applications and accounting software.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare reports and reconciliations.
  • Customer service skills with both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, take direction from multiple sources, and prioritize assignments.

Qualifications

Additional education or certifications, preferably in business or accounting, are considered beneficial.

Pay

$50,000 - $54,000

Schedule

40 hours weekly, with operational hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. This is a full-time position providing in-person services on PVCC’s main campus in Charlottesville. There is a possibility of a modified schedule in the summer, based on business needs.
