Grant Payments Officer
About the role
This position processes grant payment requests, cash advance requests, financial statement reports, and manages federal cash drawdown accounts. Under limited supervision, it provides responsible and mid-level financial management and accounting work for a department of approximately 1,700 employees across over 50 locations, including sites in Greater Minnesota, in collaboration with the Director of the Office of Grant and Contract Management (OCGM).
The role assists the team lead with advanced grants payment duties such as grant invoice payments, federal fund drawdowns, overseeing grant cash advances, and resolving complex grant invoice payments and/or drawdowns. It covers all DEED federal accounts involving multiple U.S. departments, including Labor, Education, Health, Small Business Administration, Housing and Urban Development, Commerce, Health and Human Services, Treasury, and Environmental Protection Agency.
This position is telework eligible, with staff provided the tools and equipment to succeed in a virtual work environment. The telework policy may change based on business needs.
Responsibilities
- Process grant payment requests and cash advance requests
- Manage federal cash drawdown accounts and financial statement reports
- Assist with grant invoice payments and federal fund drawdowns
- Oversee grant cash advances
- Resolve complex grant invoice payments and/or drawdowns
- Provide financial management and accounting support for federal accounts across multiple U.S. departments
Requirements
Two (2) years of experience providing administrative support for financial records, such as:
- Inputting and accessing data into accounting systems
- Approving and preparing invoices
- Processing expenses
Substitutions:
- Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field may substitute for six (6) months of experience
- Bachelor’s degree substitutes for one (1) year of experience
- Master’s degree substitutes for eighteen (18) months of experience
