About the role

The Housing and Community Development Specialist I position is located in Sacramento. This role is responsible for conducting high-level complex research, collection and analysis of programmatic and housing data, and developing program policy recommendations for State-funded multifamily grant programs.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct high-level complex research, collection and analysis of programmatic and housing data
  • Develop program policy recommendations for State-funded multifamily grant programs
  • Monitor and clear standard agreement special conditions
  • Maintain and enforce appropriate affordability restrictions
  • Ensure compliance with reporting requirements
  • Provide technical assistance to grantees to ensure programmatic and statutory requirements are met
  • Report to an HCD office a minimum of four days per week

Requirements

  • Knowledge of housing and community development policies and procedures
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex data
  • Experience with program management and policy development
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in urban planning, public administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in housing and community development
  • Experience with state and federal grants and contracts
  • Knowledge of California Government Code Section 14200

Pay

The starting salary for this position is $6,623.00 - $8,290.00 per month.

Schedule

This position requires reporting to an HCD office a minimum of four days per week. In limited cases, at the Department’s discretion, an employee may be approved to work in a remote-centered capacity on a temporary basis until appropriate office space becomes available.
