About the role
The Housing and Community Development Specialist I position is located in Sacramento. This role is responsible for conducting high-level complex research, collection and analysis of programmatic and housing data, and developing program policy recommendations for State-funded multifamily grant programs.
Responsibilities
- Conduct high-level complex research, collection and analysis of programmatic and housing data
- Develop program policy recommendations for State-funded multifamily grant programs
- Monitor and clear standard agreement special conditions
- Maintain and enforce appropriate affordability restrictions
- Ensure compliance with reporting requirements
- Provide technical assistance to grantees to ensure programmatic and statutory requirements are met
- Report to an HCD office a minimum of four days per week
Requirements
- Knowledge of housing and community development policies and procedures
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex data
- Experience with program management and policy development
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Qualifications
- Master's degree in urban planning, public administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in housing and community development
- Experience with state and federal grants and contracts
- Knowledge of California Government Code Section 14200

Pay
The starting salary for this position is $6,623.00 - $8,290.00 per month.
Schedule
This position requires reporting to an HCD office a minimum of four days per week. In limited cases, at the Department’s discretion, an employee may be approved to work in a remote-centered capacity on a temporary basis until appropriate office space becomes available.
