Configuration Manager Specialist
About the Role
Amentum is seeking a Configuration Management Specialist to support a challenging, critical, and rewarding program that provides integrated voice, video, and data services throughout the Information Technology lifecycle. This role involves working in a dynamic environment as part of a collaborative team of IT professionals. Candidates should be critical thinkers with a strong work ethic, capable of working independently or as part of a team, and able to adapt quickly to emerging and unique problem sets.
Responsibilities
- Deliver weekly updates on ongoing configuration management (CM) planning, configuration item status, change status/schedule, and configuration audits to the customer and management, escalating roadblocks as necessary.
- Provide ITIL/ITSM configuration and change management (CM) processes and recommend hardware configuration items that meet customer standards and requirements.
- Develop, update, and manage comprehensive CM procedures, work instructions, and policy manuals to ensure consistent application of CM rigor and enhance operational efficiency.
- Configure, administer, and maintain CM tools to support configuration identification, control, reporting, release, and delivery, ensuring accurate tracking of products and systems throughout their lifecycle.
- Demonstrate CM and release management activities to ensure new products are thoroughly documented and compliant with established standards.
- Perform CM processes and procedures aligned with customer requirements and train team members on the proper use of CM tools.
- Recommend and refine processes to support and enhance the hardware deployment process, ensuring efficiency, documentation, and alignment with organizational goals.
- Leverage creative thinking and collaboration to craft innovative solutions addressing current and evolving business needs.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to streamline IT workflows, promoting consistency and best practices.
- Adhere to and integrate all customer policies and procedures into daily operations to maintain compliance and quality of service.
Requirements
- Active Top-Secret clearance with SCI or TS with the ability to acquire SCI.
- 10 years of relevant experience in configuration management.
- Strong background in utilizing Configuration Management Database (CMDB) technology, including hands-on experience with ServiceNow CMDB (CI classes, relationships, reconciliation, discovery, data quality, and governance).
- Strong understanding of hardware lifecycle processes (from design through disposal).
- Demonstrated expertise with ITIL-aligned processes and ability to interpret technical documentation, architectural diagrams, and system baselines.
- Experience supporting DoD programs, including familiarity with DoD IT service delivery standards.
- Familiarity with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Project, Visio).
- Exceptional attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong critical thinking, organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work a 40-hour work week (Monday through Friday) with availability for overtime during critical peaks.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma (minimum education requirement).
- Current Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certification.
- One of the following 8140 IAT Level II or III baseline certifications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Configuration Management Principles and Implementation Certification (CM2-PRO).
- ServiceNow certifications (e.g., CIS–CMDB, ITSM, Discovery).
- ITIL V3-4 Foundation Certification.
- NDIA CDM Certification.
- Data Management Certification.

Pay
$150,000 - $180,000 per year. The compensation range is a good-faith estimate and may vary based on job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, and applicable laws.
Schedule
5 days per week (Monday – Friday), 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week. Overtime may be required during critical peaks.
