Grant makes beautiful music therapy possible

Through a grant from the Caledonia Education Foundation, the autism spectrum disorder program at Paris Ridge Elementary included weekly music therapy sessions led by Alaina Alvarez from the Franciscan Life Process Center in Lowell.

About the Role

Music therapist Alaina Alvarez works with first- through fourth-grade students, guiding them through rhythm exploration, movement to music, and instrument play. Sessions follow a consistent routine to help students feel comfortable and engaged.

Alvarez adapts activities based on student responses, ensuring each child can participate in a way that suits them. She provides all necessary instruments and equipment, fostering an inclusive and joyful learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead weekly music therapy sessions for students in the ASD program.
